PAUL PRATHER, Bethesda’s pastor, has been an ordained minister for nearly 35 years. He’s also a contributing columnist for the Lexington Herald-Leader and the author of four books, including A Memory of Firelight: Selected Columns from the Lexington Herald-Leader. From 1988 to 1997, he was a Herald-Leader staff writer; during most of that time he covered the religion beat, where he crossed paths with everyone from Billy Graham to Billy Ray Cyrus to the Dalai Lama. He’s won a number of awards for his journalism and fiction. He lives in Mount Sterling with his wife, Liz, and spends as much time as possible with his grandkids.
